IST, in partnership with the Eskom IT Department, implemented the Smallworld solution for Eskom Distribution. IST was responsible for certain applications required by Eskom in the Smallworld environment, which included analysis, design, development, testing, integration and implementation. IST is currently providing ongoing customisation, enhancement and upgrade services to Eskom, as well as providing ongoing maintenance and support to Eskom for the Smallworld products. |

IST, in partnership with Telkom, implemented the whole solution from initial requirements analysis through to going into production, including design, development, integration and training. IST is currently providing ongoing customisation, enhancement and integration services to Telkom, constantly enhancing the product to meet new requirements from the business. Telkom has also established a long-term maintenance and support contract for the whole solution with IST. |

TELKOM SA LTD. – Service Assignment Manager (SAM) |
IST Data has further been awarded the Service Assignment Manager (SAM) contract at Telkom. The SAM project will be implemented in three phases: full implantation of Circuit Assignment Manager (CAM), followed by full integration for automation and finally the migration of all legacy data into the inventory. The Circuit Assignment Manager has been developed by IST within the GE Smallworld environment to assign available capacity over suitable logical facilities in the network, to build complete circuits for the customer’s requested service. These requests and subsequent assignments are performed automatically and in real time to also support processes for correction, termination and service changes. |

Eskom Distribution embarked on the implementation of mobile technology to assist them in the auditing and capturing of substation information. The technology provided Eskom would be the first mobility solution that pushes operational data from multiple back office systems to the field for data auditing purposes. By implementing the MAXIMO Mobile Auditor from Agentry, Eskom will be able to:
Bloem Water’s area of supply covers some 34,250 square kilometers with the main boundaries being the Southern and Central Free State. Bloem Water operates and maintains 3 major storage dams, wastewater works and waterworks, a number of pump stations and reservoirs, and an extensive network of pipelines and aqueducts that transport the water to the customers. SonaHess’s objective was to be more efficient – reducing the cost per barrel oil produced i.e. reducing the unit cost. The following main areas of improvements were identified:
Sedibeng Water is one of the largest water utilities providing services across 2 provinces (Free State and North West). Sedibeng Water is currently serving a population of about 2 million people. They decided to purchase and implement a fully Strategic Asset Management System, MAXIMO 5.2. The system is 100% web architectured that means that the application is build for access through the web (internet and intranet). This architecture will provide the ideal platform for a centralized deployment where the application server and database server can be hosted at Sedibeng’s head office and all other sites can log in via the wide area network by only using a browser (Internet Explorer). Prestige Cleaning is a member of the Bidvest group and is a Services Company specializing in cleaning.
This Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project spanned the implementation of a system for countrywide operations,
spanning ten companies, housed in a single database. AXAPTA modules implemented included, Finance, Trade and Logistics,
Materials requirement planning and Projects. Master data like inventory, chart of accounts, vendor and customer price files
had to be shared by all the companies in question. Specific requirements included financial consolidation of all the
company statements and complex debtors invoicing with various formats required for different customers. |
