Description: Upgrade of batch furnace

Scope:
The old gas-fired batch furnace was replaced with a new electric arc furnace. This involved the redesign of the support structure requiring 65 tons of additional steelwork. A new dust extraction system utilising a negative pressure baghouse was supplied. The cooling water system was redesigned to provide sufficient capacity under all conditions. The existing MCC was expanded to incorporate drives for the new material conveying system.
