The IST
Corporate
S o c i a l
Investment
(CSI) programme
encompasses
strategic, corporate,
national and community
objectives. It addresses
the continuous development
of its staff as well as
the development of future
engineers currently at school or
at university. The programme also
invests in the development of disabled
students.
In addition, IST sponsors a non-profit organisation
that supplies meals for lesser-privileged individuals/families
of all races and genders in the Pretoria West area and offers
the benefit of an in-house Occupational Health Clinic manned by a registered
Occupational Health sister. The clinic provides basic medical care and basic medication
and advice, free of charge, to all employees and dependants, and runs an Aids
education programme in the form of material and pamphlets available to all IST staff.
Medical testing, assistance and a counselling programme on HIV/Aids are also
available through the
Occupational Health Clinic.
IST currently sponsors university
students as well
as scholars (Previously
Disadvantaged Individuals -
PDI), that are primarily
studying towards an engineering
degree in either
electrical, electronic, mechanical,
chemical or computer
science engineering.
The group’s university bursary
scheme has produced
its first tangible rewards
through the full-time employment
of four former bursars
by IST during the past year.
IST also contributes towards
post graduate studies
through the Telkom CoE
programme offered through
the University of Pretoria.
